I feel my mind drifting
my thoughts far away,
Why is it today
I have nothing to say,
My brain is blank
I read for inspiration
I search others’ thoughts,
I came up with nothing
Today I am lost
I feel my mind drifting
my thoughts far away,
Why is it today
I have nothing to say,
My brain is blank
I read for inspiration
I search others’ thoughts,
I came up with nothing
Today I am lost
10 min-Sweat
Sweat trickles down my face as I stand in the blazing sunlight. Its rays beaming down on me burning my skin. The sweat runs in little rivers splitting off from one main source on my forehead. Salty rivers like ocean water, not clean spring water that often flows through tributaries. Picking up speed as it goes down, gaining more substance and rolling faster like a snowball. The aqueous like substance reaches my lips and tastes of saline solution. It continues on down, dripping from my chin, watering the earth with salty raindrops. Lightly seeping from the pores on my arms and legs and remaining body, leaving me glistening as if gently misted by oil. Pooling up into a little puddle on the small of my back. Dampening my chest. My ears are hot, singed. It smells of fresh cut grass and barbecue on the next lawn. I hear music blasting from my speakers. A hot summer day
90sec-Gossip
Gossip is painful way down deep in the soul. It’s hard to get over! It smells like hate. It’s vulgar and nasty. Girls are the worst, but boys do it too! It hurts on the inside, turns a pink heart black. It is totally wack! don’t talk smack
A rainbow of colors
a plethora of light
The young little boy
is flying his kite
The sky no longer dark
the ground begins to dry
Water reflects the light
a prism in the sky
10min-Stove (struggled a little less with this one surprisingly)
On the stove top we’re making fudge. Bring the milk, butter, & sugar to a boil. When the candy thermometer says stop we slowly mix in the marshmallow fluff and chocolate. Stir stir stir till our arms fall off. The smell so sweet, but not like vanilla at all. Not even like cake. Touch the warm fudge, and mould it like clay. Toss in pecans or leave it plain to stay. Rich brown in hue & it tastes good too! The stove made for macaroni and ramen. Every college kids life in a nutshell. If you don’t have a favorite flavor of ramen, you don’t know the struggle! Kraft, in the shapes is best! Consuming miniature animated characters just tastes better than moon shaped noodles covered in orange powdered cheese. Zig zagged noodles for ramen, with tiny packets of flavor sprinkled in. A step above Cup Noodles, which taste like styrofoam. Stove top also simmering mom’s special chili all day long. In a large pot of lumpy goodness, adding red beans is best. Steam on the glass top of the pot roasting the chili. Smell of taco spices in the air. Soon there will be plenty to share. Stoves are great for arm workouts, you pretty well have to stir everything cooked on a stove. Keep it from sticking to the pot or pan. Scrambled eggs made by a chefs hand, throwing in vegetables & cheese for the best product.
10min-Lightning (struggled a bit with this one)
Lightning strikes across the night sky. The pitch black birds fly frantically by. They crow they squawk they warn of what’s to come. The smell of moist grass in the air. The humidity dampens my skin. The windows fog as the storm rolls in. Hot on the outside, cold indoors. Safer inside than to be outdoors. Tall trees attract the lightning, stripes of fire from above. Mighty Zeus wielding his scepter in the heavens. Punishing the land, yet blessing it too, with drops of molecules to soften the green foliage. Dirt turned to mud. Worms creep out of the earth. Lighting strikes sand, creating glass. Lightning strikes water, electrocuting. Lightning strikes wood, burning it to char. Lightning strikes an ocean, Poseidon strikes back. Waves crashing and rolling at the thunder’s crack. Illuminating the dark sky, whether night or during day.
5min-SMOKE
Smoke from the fire in the middle of the woods. Burning colored leaves. Turning them to gray ash. The smell tickles my nose. It’s different from the smell of most fires, no false starters. The light burning bright. The flames stripping the leaves of their pigment, taking on the bright red, orange & yellow for themselves. No roasting marshmallows over this fire, there’s too much smoke! The crackling popping noise of the little flares as they escape from the main flame untamed. Heating up my skin, swaying in the wind.
This weeks UNbalanced exercises
7/11
I try to sleep,
but my eyes continue to blink
I think of you,
& why you didn’t love me too
But my cat slumbers soundly
7/12
I dreamed of snowboarding last night,
Everything was fine and great,
and then I woke up
I hope you heal up soon,
I hear people say,
I’m sorry that happened to you
7/13
I’ve got to admit,
I’m being a typical girl
I say I can’t be friends,
It’s too hard, & hurts so bad,
But I secretly want him to fight back
7/14
As I sit in my backyard
basking in the warm sun
I watch the sky turn to night
the wind blowing in from the west
Little cracks of light shine through
As if the sky is an egg shell
through which an alien is punching a hole
The Leo in the sky roars
heralding the mighty upcoming production
7/15
Elephants, large, majestic, strong
Milling about with trunks so long
Tusks of white ivory
& gray wrinkled skin
never to perform at the circus again
10 min-Clap (I didn’t like this one)
Clap goes the thunder in the distance. The clouds slowly rolling in as though watching the bottom of waves from underneath the water. The loud clap makes the silence in between that much more powerful. The suspense between the flickers of lightening and how long it will take to hear the thunder. Judging how close the lightening struck by how long of a pause between the two. Golf claps on the contrary, very quiet. Pleasant displays of appreciation for sportsmanship. Louder is the clapping at a concert, between songs, louder still at the end of the show prodding an encore. Whistles and yells dispersed throughout adding to the racket. Children’s clackers. The 3 plastic hands on the end of a stick that, when waved, make an awkward clapping noise. Clapping at the circus between each act. Barnum’s just retired their elephants. Is it actually “thunder” that claps, or is it really the lightening making the noise, & we just refer to the noise as thunder. I don’t believe they are separate entities. I believe the thunder is just the resulting sound of where the lightening hits, which is why the delayed effect is based on the distance of lightening from where you are. The time between is proportionate to the distance
90 sec-Sinking
Sinking in a ship, the water slowly rising. Churning about inside this vessel of no escape. All the while thinking, because thoughts don’t sink. Salt water in the air, smells of dead fish. Gasping for oxygen.
